M3
Pattern vs
Surface

Reflection
Module 03 was to develop three artefacts by combining a 2-dimensional image with a 3-dimensional terrain, through the use of panels to create a pattern to the surface. As it was my first time using a 3d modelling software, I tried developing various panels - from simple to complex - while still considering its buildability, which I ended up using panels with subtle changes to its composition to mimic the flow of the fabric. While combining the terrain and the fabric, fluidity can be achieved by shifting the grid and using custom panels to make the artefact less rigid, mimicking the flow of the fabric. I also adjusted its points to make curved lines - horizontally and vertically - as well as straight lines to emphasise the flat area in the middle of the fabric. When developing the three artefacts, I had to go back and forth with the different panels and terrain as the process correlates to one another, and finally combining artefact 3 with the fabric for the composite image.
