SEAT
Module 3
Reflection
A seat for play and relaxation
Finally the third module, we were given the freedom to choose and combine any two material to construct a seat and research the best way on how to build it in consideration of the ergonomics suitable for a person.
From this project, I learned the importance of buildability in a design and what is needed to be considered when joining different elements together.
A lot more is needed to be considered when designing a curved structure, such that every small tangent need to be identified and documented so builders could shape the elements together and construct the seat. It is noted that researching fixings and fasteners that are appropriate to the context is important as there are different ways and methodology to build a project.

I also learned the importance of hatching in the detail drawings to show the different materials used and how it is connected and fixed together.
When laying out the drawings, I refer back to the Oval Pavillion drawings, which is a good reference set of construction document, to see how drawing conversions are used in different drawings and scales, such as plans, elevations, sections, as well as different scales of 1:50, 1:20, and 1:5.
Through CASA, from the given assignments, lectures and also the e-learning modules, I am prepared with the basic knowledge of construction, materiality, etc, and learning a variety of considerations when designing and building future projects.
