M4
Field vs
Frame
Reflection
For module 04, I was to tell a narrative using field and frame from interpreting a given reading, combining al the skills that I've learned throughout the semester. This module gave more freedom in designing the city, which exercises our representational skills in arranging the notations, as well as developing perspectives to have a sense of the story. As the city of Olinda is a continually growing city, I interpreted it to have 2 atmospheres - a newer smaller city and an older expanded city - which relates to the choice of character groups in the two perspectives. The two perspectives were designed to frame the interaction between its two cities - the young girl and the older man - that was emphasised through the use of lighting and the choice of colour overlay. The lighting helps viewers to guide the eye in which element to focus on first, ultimately bring forth the narrative of the story.
